Wrens, Georgia

Wrens is a city in Jefferson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,217 at the 2020 census. It is located on U.S. Route 1, thirty miles west of Augusta.

History

Wrens was laid out in 1884 when the railroad was extended to that point, and named after W.J. Wren, an early settler and merchant. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Wrens as a town in 1901. Wrens was incorporated again as a city in 1970.

Wrens is located at 33.20817°N, -82.38752°W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.0 sqmi, of which 3.0 sqmi is land and 0.33% is water.

As of the 2020 United States census, there were 2,217 people, 880 households, and 591 families residing in the city.
