The narrator describes how the man comes to terms with this new reality and shares this realization with his lover in many different situations. The narrator tells his lover that his love for her is as true as the sun coming up every morning, as bright as the light in a baby's smile, as sure as a mountain river winding its way, and as right as the rain falling from the sky.

Critical reception

Larry Flick, of Billboard magazine reviewed the song favorably, saying that the production has an "open, airy feel that underscores the honest emotion in the lyric." He goes on to say that Strait's phrasing "adds appeal and turns a sweet, ordinary song into something special."
