Rolv Yttrehus
Rolv Berger Yttrehus (born Duluth, Minnesota, March 12, 1926 – February 4, 2018) was an American composer of contemporary classical music. He held degrees from the University of Minnesota and University of Michigan and a Diploma from the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He studied harmony with Nadia Boulanger and composition with Ross Lee Finney, Roger Sessions, Aaron Copland, and Goffredo Petrassi. He taught at the University of Missouri, Purdue University, University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and Rutgers University. He regarded Arnold Schoenberg and Sessions as his principal influences. He died in 2018.
