Oa is a fictional planet that lies at the center of the DC Comics universe. Since its inception, Oa has been the planetary citadel of the Guardians of the Universe and headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps. It first appeared in Green Lantern (vol. 2) #1 (August 1960), and was created by Gil Kane and John Broome.

History

One of the oldest planets in the universe, Oa serves as the homeworld and headquarters for the Green Lantern Corps and their superiors, the Guardians of the Universe. It contains a training center, a dining hall, a memorial hall, a hall containing the Green Lantern Corps' constitution, and specialized prison cells called Sciencells. Oa has been destroyed and rebuilt twice throughout its history, with Mogo serving as its replacement.
