Nicolet (provincial electoral district)
Nicolet was a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). It disappeared in the 1973 election and its successor electoral district was Nicolet-Yamaska. Nicolet-Yamaska, in turn, disappeared in the 1981 election and Nicolet reappeared. However, Nicolet's final election was in 1985. It disappeared for good in the 1989 election and its successor electoral district was the re-created Nicolet-Yamaska. It was named in honour of French explorer Jean Nicolet who also worked for the Company of One Hundred Associates in the 17th century.
