Minister in charge of Housing (France)

The Minister in charge of Housing is a cabinet member in the Government of France. Since 21 September 2024, the position is held by Valérie Létard.

History

In 1925 the position was created and called High Commissioner for Housing, after World War II it became the Minister for Housing and Rebuilding. In 1967 it became attached to the Minister of Public Works in the government of Georges Pompidou then attached to the Minister of Territorial Development. From 2009 to 2012 the position was attached to the Minister of Ecology. Previous titles have been: Ministre du Logement et de l'Égalité des territoires (Minister of Housing and Territorial Equality), Ministre de l'Emploi, de la Cohésion sociale et du Logement (Minister of Employment, Social Cohesion and Housing).
