Ray Crawford is the all-time top goalscorer for Ipswich Town. In the 1970–71 season, he became the first footballer to score hat-tricks in the Football League, League Cup, FA Cup and European Cup.

Ipswich's record at Portman Road is peerless in European football. For 45 years, Ipswich held the record for the longest unbeaten run of games at home in European competition. The team's absence from such tournaments in recent years had seen the record overtaken by AZ Alkmaar, whose home undefeated run was finally broken by Everton in 2007.
