Josef Kohler
Josef Kohler (9 March 1849 – 3 August 1919) was a German jurist, author and poet.

Biography
Kohler was born in Offenburg. He studied at Offenburg and Rastatt gymnasiums and Freiburg and Heidelberg universities. He became Doctor of Laws (1873) and was appointed judge at Mannheim (1874). He was a professor at Würzburg (1878) and Berlin (1888). Through his many contributions to the Zeitschrift für vergleichende Rechtswissenschaft and other law journals he aided much in advancing the comparative history of law. Kohler died in Charlottenburg, aged 70.
