Gaydarbek Abdulovich Gaydarbekov (born October 6, 1976) is a Russian boxer who has won two Olympic medals in Middleweight, including the gold medal at the 2004 games. He qualified for the Athens Olympics by winning the 2004 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Pula, Croatia. Today he is perhaps best known for defeating future boxing superstar Gennady Golovkin, from Kazakhstan, in the 2004 Olympic finals. Despite his brilliant amateur pedigree, he never turned professional. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, he got the silver medal after losing 15–17 in a closely contested final against Cuba's Jorge Gutiérrez.
