Don't Stop the Carnival is Jimmy Buffett's 22nd studio album. It was released on April 28, 1998 and was his first album for Island Records. Buffett had been dropped from MCA Records in 1996. The album "Don't Stop the Carnival" by Jimmy Buffett was inspired by the 1965 Herman Wouk novel of the same name. In 1997, Buffett and Wouk produced a short-run stage play in Miami based on the novel. Jimmy Buffett's album "Don't Stop the Carnival" was released in 1998 to promote the play of the same name. The album features 20 compositions related to themes in the play, and reached #15 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
