Andalgalá Department

Andalgalá is a central department of Catamarca Province in Argentina. The provincial subdivision has a population of about 14,000 inhabitants in an area of 4,497 km2, and its capital city is Andalgalá, which is located around 1,435 km from Buenos Aires.

Economy

The main contributors to the economy of Andalgalá Department are farming and mining. The Capillitas Mine is a rich source of Rhodochrosite, (Inca Rosa), as well as 87 other types of mineral, including Catamarcaite, which is named after the Province of Catamarca.
