Ašašninkai
Ašašninkai is a village in Varėna district municipality, in Alytus County, in southeastern Lithuania. According to the 2021 census, the village has a population of 27 people. In the years 1921-1945 the village was within the borders of Poland. Ašašninkai is the southernmost inhabited place is Lithuania. Ašašninkai village is located c. 25 km from Druskininkai, 19 km from Marcinkonys, 1 km from Kabeliai (the nearest settlement) and 1 km from the Belarusian border.

Etymology
The name Ašašninkai (in Dzūkian Ašašnykai) comes from <, which mean 'a hunter beater, a forest ranger, a forest keeper, a tracker'. Before 1990 the village was officially called Kabeliai II.
