The team finished with a record of 95–67, tied with the Boston Red Sox but won the division due to winning the season series 10–9 over Boston. New York was managed by Joe Torre. The Yankees played at Yankee Stadium. In the playoffs, they lost in the ALDS in 5 games to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It was their eleventh year making the playoffs in a row.
