1988 Australian Open โ Men's singles
Mats Wilander defeated Pat Cash in the final, 6โ3, 6โ7(3โ7), 3โ6, 6โ1, 8โ6 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1988 Australian Open. It was his third Australian Open title and fifth major singles title overall. Stefan Edberg was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the semifinals to Wilander. This marked the first edition of the tournament to be held on hardcourts, having previously been held on grass courts.
